Iconic

My Iconic paintings are mostly figurative, moving beyond the literal to the archetypal. Often biblical or historical in reference, these paintings purposefully blur the lines between then and now, for we 21st century people face the eternal questions, doubts, and challenges of being human and divine, matter and spirit, present in the here and now and eternal. I also find myself painting the defining moments in these old stories, when the outcome is yet undecided, giving us insight into what they must have faced, and how we might respond in our own lives. But I find spiritual themes are expressible in non-figurative ways, too. Each iconic painting invites a spiritual curiosity.
